This institute is the only provincial-level research organization engaged in development and application of laser technology in Hebei Province.

The following measuring and controlling Instruments produced in this institute have been used in the glass industry: the laser level Controller, the laser diameter finder and the laser separater for glass tubes. The first two instruments won the third-class Science and Technology Progress Prizes of the Ministry of Light Industry and Hebei Province. These products are at the leading position in China.

They have been applied to about 300 furnaces in 23 provinces, municipalities or autonomous regions throughout China, and sold to foreign countries including Indonesia and Vietnam.
