The Eczacıbaşı Group is one of Turkey’s foremost industrial mineral and metallic mineral producers and exporters through its natural resources company, Esan Eczacıbaşı Raw Materials. Esan was established in 1978 to produce high quality raw materials for the ceramics sector. Later, it evolved into leading industrial minerals producer and also a strong metal mining Turkish company. Today, we are one of Turkey’s top suppliers of industrial and metallic minerals. Our mission is to explore, process and add value to natural resources in a responsible manner towards people, environment and the future of the world, and to offer these products globally.
Esan currently operates several open pit mines and one underground mine with nine processing plants that collectively produce 3.5 million tonnes of high-quality raw materials including feldspar, quartz, kaolin, ball clay. Supported by the largest feldspar reserves base in Turkey, Esan is the world’s largest producer of sodium feldspar.
On metal production stream, Esan produces 135,000 tonnes of zinc and lead concentrates and 400 kg of gold ingots. Since 2020, it has been producing copper concentrate as well.
Approximately 80 percent of our sales are made to global markets in more than 50 countries in all around the world. In addition to our operations in Turkey, we have representative offices in Italy, Ukraine and China through which we manage our global sales and trading network. For two consecutive years, we are Turkey's largest exporter in the mining sector. Besides our 3.9 million tonnes of products, we market and sell more than 150 high-quality minerals and 0.4 million tonnes of other type of industrial inputs to global markets. Esan enriches life by serving foremost ceramic industry, welding electrode, glass, refractory, enamel, abrasive, dye, plastic and composite stone sectors.
With the perception of sustainable mining, Esan, which cares for workers’ and society’s health excessively, aims at contributing to social and environmental sustainability in the regions operations take place.
Esan believes that it is necessary to carry out business in world standards to move forward and has the certificates of ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 17025 Laboratories Accreditation Management System, ISO 14001 Environment and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
